Once upon a time, there was a group of people who joined an Inkheart forum. They got so frustrated waiting for the third book to come out that they decided to take matters into their own hands and write it themselves. However, they were unsure of where to start. So they all took turns reading aloud from the first two books to see if any of them had the "Gift." They thought that maybe whomever they read from the books would give them advice on what to write. Unfortunately, their parents called and said it was time for dinner, and they all had to go home before anything exciting happened. The group of Inkheart people decided they would meet in Germany for no real reason except that is the language it was written in and they were all on summer holiday. They shared an apartment and it was soon filled with copies of Inkheart everyone had brought with them, and a library that one of the members brought (I wonder who that is....) and a map of Japan (...). That night was dark and stormy, a perfect night. So they sat around with hot chocolate and marshmallows and finally, away from parents/siblings/demonic hamsters /armadillos they opened Inkheart and each took it in turn to read. JG munched on a marshmallow as the group contemplated who would start reading. After an awkward couple of minutes of silence, she spoke up and said, "I'll go first. I probably can't do it anyway so we might as well get it over with." She picked up the book and started reading. After fifteen minutes of nothing, a limp string appeared on the carpet to replace a mosquito that had been bugging (heh...bugging...get it?) them all night. But after another ten minutes they realized that was all they were going to get. "A string, huh? Well, I guess that's the best I can do. Oh well, who's next?" Zen had had a lot of practice at reading aloud at home, it was a favorite pastime between her and her brother. So, after she burnt her tongue on her hot chocolate (as she does with every hot chocolate she has ever drunk) she decided to try. She found her favorite part of the book and began. Unfortunately, her favorite part of the book had both Capricorn and Basta in it (duh), which, if she had been thinking she probably would have avoided. But she was never thinking. When she momentarily lost her place, everyone else read the next line and Zen joined in. At that moment, some figures started to appear in the shadows... JG watched the fingers, excited that something was finally coming out of the book. The group kept reading, and a hand, followed by an arm, and a shoulder made themselves visible. Oooh...this is so cool! She thought, doing a happy dance in her head. The group kept reading until there were two shadowy silhouettes in the corner of the room. They stopped reading to stare, and one by one they figured out whom the people they had read from the book probably were. The stared in silence until Zen let out a squeal of delight. Oh yeah...Basta and Capricorn are her favorite characters. Zen almost fainted from complete delight. Everything she had ever dreamed of had come true. Some other people in the room where not so elated as they knew they had not summoned a few harmless fairies. JG snapped to her senses first, realizing that they had the upper hand because they outnumbered them and Capricorn and Basta still looked confused. "Get them!" JG shouted and, to Zen's horror, JG had soon skillfully whipped the knife out of Basta's hand and they others, rather ungracefully, held them down while Zen dejectedly looked for something to tie them up with. She knew that they were dangerous but still...this was the best thing ever. Once Basta and Capricorn were tied up, the group was at a loss as to what they should do with them. Zen wanted to let them go and have them all to herself, but that obviously wasn't going to happen. But they couldn't leave them tied up either. "Duh! We force them to help us write the book, and when we finish, set them free! Of course, they may kill us afterwards...aw heck, who am I kidding? They will definitely kill us afterwards. Ah, well. It's all we've got for now, so let's get writing!" So they grabbed some paper and pen (they were going to use the quill and parchment Zen brought for realism but the ink exploded on the way over) and sat down. All agreed Zen shouldn't write because her handwriting was completely illegible to all but Martians and a few select friends and school. "I still think we should untie them" Zen sulked. No one bothered to answer. "OK," said JG "what happens in book 3?" Both looked confused "After Dustfinger gets taken by the white women?" Zen added. "I knew I would get him some day,” Basta snarled. And then it hit home, of course! They had been taken from Inkheart, so they didn't know what was going to happen in the future! But what should they do with them now they were here? JG leaned over and whispered, "Let's not tell them they're dead yet. They might get angry." Zen piped up, "We could bring them back to life in the beginning. Then we wouldn't have that problem." "Yeah...ooh! They could meet Dustfinger in the afterlife thingy or whatever and stuff and then be brought back to life by...something. They were rejected by the white women because they were so ugly and so mean to Dustfinger." "They're not ug-" Zen stopped as she went up to look at the two,"-Yes they are."

They debated for a long time on the basic plot of the third book, interrupted only by more hot chocolate and giving Zen a bang on the head when she got caught staring at Basta and Capricorn again. After some time they decided the main layout for their third book should go something like this: Basta, Capricorn, Firefox etc. get brought back to life because the white women didn't like them. This was not necessary because they were ugly (most of the debate was on this.) But here opinion was divided. Some people/person wanted evil to overthrow the rest of Lombrica and control everyone. Other people/person wanted Farid and Dustfinger to come back to life and for Farid to get off with Meggie. Neither side seemed willing to compromise. It may be a long night, and there was only one marshmallow left... "Okay! What if...Dustfinger came back anyway while evil is trying to take over the world, with random moments of fluff between Farid and Meggie, with the occasional comedic relief of someone hitting Orpheus over the head with a frying pan, and we rock/paper/scissors to find out who wins! As a matter of fact, the whole battle should be a rock/paper/scissors battle! It's genius! Ha!" JG exclaimed. The group stared at her for a moment. "Uh...and we can split the last marshmallow." "That could work...." Zen replied. "Oh and you can't split the last marshmallow" she added. "Why?" asked JG "Cos I ate it" replied Zen "that and the odd grime I found on the bottom on the sink" "But...you…oh never mind" replied JG "Well I completely agree with the hole bashing Orpheus over the head thing and how about we say: I get to marry the Adderhead and rule Argenta but I will only rule Argenta and then JG can...err...what do you want to do JG?" "NOOO!! I wanted the marshmallow!!! And what is it with you and eating grime and paper!?" cried Kaede. "I agree with Orpheus bashing...but I think it needs to take place more often than just sometimes. And the random bits of fluff should not be random...We should...make Meggie marry some new, random person in the book so that I can marry Farid and he can teach me all the fire tricks!! And I'm not sure it's that safe to let Zen rule Argenta...I have a small feeling she'd kill me...and others..." "Yes, but I'd leave the Motley folk alone...and of course it's safe to let me rule...well...reasonably..."Emma protested "Well, that’s good to know, but we still don’t know what JG wants to do..."Kaede pointed out. "I want to...conquer Japan. But somehow I don't think that has anything to do with Inkheart other than the fact that Japan is a country on Earth, and Inkheart is set in Europe, with is also on Earth. As for you marrying Farid, Kaede, I wouldn't have a problem with it except for the fact that he's already very attached to Meggie. He may grow to resent you for taking him away from her, and end up having an affair with a tavern wench named Jocelyn who looks remarkably similar to his second cousin twice removed on his father's side, despite the fact that they are from completely different books. In regards to Zen marrying the Adderhead, well...that's just creepy. We'll have to think about that one." JG stopped to think a moment. "What if, during the battle, which is epically raging all around everyone, Zen randomly looks up at the same moment as the Adderhead, their eyes meet, and they fall in love, but then because he loves her he decides to spare her life and by sparing her life shows her that he can actually be mildly caring, which lowers him in her eyes so much that she kills him off and decides to rule Argenta without him, while still keeping an evil looking portrait of him in her sitting room." "Well that whole Zen and Adderhead thing is a bit creepy, but it could work," Inkgirl agreed. "Just as long as Zen doesn’t take over the whole Inkworld and kill all of the non-evil people." Everyone was silent for a while, looking at her and Zen. "Fine..." Zen finally murmured. "And I really like the killing off the Adderhead thing. I could rule and of course so could Capricorn and Basta." She nodded and looked around for some more odd grime to eat, since there were no more marshmallows left. Capricorn muttered something to Basta, but a glare from the group silenced their whispering before Basta could reply. "Just one question," Inkgirl replied. "Who is going to hit Orpheus over the head with that frying pan? You said 'someone' but who?" "I will!" Everyone shouted. It's amazing how hated Orpheus is. Zen came back in from the kitchen eating moldy bread and brandishing a frying pan threateningly. "Well we can all sneak up on him and hit him over the head then." "Do they have frying pans in Inkworld?" JG wondered absent-mindedly. "A rock will do" Inkgirl said "Anything fairly deadly" added Zen.

They discussed the fact that there were, supposedly, other islands near Inkworld and wondered if any of these was Japanese-like enough for JG to take over. "We could just write that there are other islands," Inkgirl suggested. "True," JG said, tapping the pen on the desk. " But Cornelia...uh, Steve -- will get mad if we change it around." "What if she thinks its good?" Zen took her last bite of the moldy bread, and crumbs fell on JG and the desk. She was quick to wipe them away, murmuring, "Eww..." "Let's hope she likes it then," Inkgirl replied. "Hey!!" She shouted it so suddenly that the others jumped. She pointed ahead. Capricorn and Basta were escaping!!! "After them!!!" JG shouted, and everyone charged forward (with the exception of Zen, who wasn’t sure what to do.) Suddenly, to Zen's complete horror, JG raised the knife that she had stolen from Basta. All the others were even shocked, but JG only threatened to hurt Capricorn and Basta if they didn’t get away from her door. Reluctantly, the two villains obeyed, and Inkgirl found a chain to tie them up with. "This won't go on forever, brats!" Basta growled as they tied him up. “We’ll end up escaping one day!!!" He turned to Zen. "Bring us back to our world, witch! You're like a small Silvertongue, only I don't think you deserve that name." Zen was pleased at how hostile Basta's voice sounded. "Now," JG continued, slapping her heads together. "Let's continue. Who votes we make up an island?" Several of the group murmured agreement. Inkgirl trudged over to the desk, picked up the pen, and scribbled something down on the paper. It read: JG desperately wished for a Japanese island to call her own. The group was on a long search for it. For four days they were sailing around the Inkworld, watching... waiting...wondering...hoping. Suddenly, out of the cold mist came a figure, not too far off. JG peered through the fog. She could just make out the damp sand on the edge. They had found an island! At last! JG was so excited she could have jumped out of the boat. But she needs only to remain patient enough so that the slow wooden boat would reach the island. "An island!" she shouted, and everyone wearily glanced up. They hadn’t eaten in two days, and no one seemed as excited as she. Inkgirl and Zen managed to get to their feet and trudge over to their friend, who was bouncing excitedly. Inkgirl managed a weak smile. They really were VERY excited, yet they had almost no way of showing it with a completely empty stomach. "I think JG's found her home," Zen said, forcing a laugh. Inkgirl stared out into the mist. "Indeed she has." "Huh?" Inkgirl looked at everyone. "Is it good." Everyone nodded. "It's nice," Zen said. "Except the starving part isn't too nice." Inkgirl shrugged. "Neither are Capricorn and Basta, and they're here." Zen shrugged also. "You have a point there." She paced over to Capricorn and Basta and looked at them thoughtfully. "Yea," Inkgirl replied. "Well, I guess this'll do until we think of something else." -TO BE CONTINUED: CHAPTER TWO, “THE THINKING” The Thinking: “Yay! I get an island!!" JG exclaimed, and started to do a 'yay I get an island' dance. "Stop dancing!" Zen commanded, irritated. "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes." "No. Go to Canada." "Yes--what?!" "You heard me. Canada. Where they say things like 'Yes, by', Bwahahahahahahahahaha!" "NO!" "Finally you agree with me. I'm glad you see things my way." and JG resumed dancing. "Ooookay," said Inkgirl. "Now that we've got that settled, what happens next?" "We should land on the island, and find some food. Maybe some cheese trees..." "Cheese trees?" Inkgirl asked, making sure she had heard right. "Uh huh," JG replied, not stopping her dance. "Of course. You know; trees with cheese growing on them? I'm sure they have them in the Inkworld -- they have every other strange thing."

I have the rest of it, up till a certain point. There was more, but I didn't save it. Hold on... Ah, crap. It starts when Dustfinger tried to escape and claimed he was going to the bathroom, and then Ritz--being the obsessive DF-fangirl that you are--said, and I quote, "Can I help you?"
